Treasures For Tomorrow Shines Spotlight on
Community Leaders and the Oklahoma Health Center

This year’s annual Treasures For Tomorrow was another huge success as the community joined together to honor five living Treasures. For the fifth year, the Treasures For Tomorrow event was held April 15th on the Oklahoma Health Center campus to bring attention to the great things happening each day in this area.

Ray and Lou Ackerman, Mrs. Clifford "Mex" Frates, Rabbi David Packman and Bert Seabourn were named the 2004 Living Treasures. After a reception in the Bernice Shedrick Library on the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics campus, guests walked over to the Dan Little Dining Hall for a gourmet dinner and the awards ceremony.
Co-chairs James Pickel and Marnie Taylor were the masters of ceremony for the awards presentation. Each honoree received a piece of artwork designed by David Phelps representing Oklahoma’s natural treasures, a rabbit, tortoise and a horny toad. After a glimpse into each Treasure’s life through the video artistry of Filmmaker in Residence Shawnee Britton, the honoree made remarks to the audience.

Proceeds from the event and also donations from the community will go towards constructing the Founders’ Plaza at Stiles Park to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Oklahoma Health Center in 2005. The park will feature the Beacon of Hope, a monolithic sculpture surrounded by benches, trees and flowers.
