The 2006 Treasures For Tomorrow event was another success in a new venue. This year, the event was held at the Petroleum Club in the Chase Building, downtown Oklahoma City. After a reception for the honorees, the awards program was emceed by Mark Funke and Susan Edwards, this year's new co-chairmen. Many top business leaders, community service leaders and dignitaries showed up to help the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation shine the light on the 2006 Living Treasures.  

Honored as Living Treasures this year were Avis Scaramucci, Ray and Pat Potts, Max Weitzenhoffer and Former Governor George and Donna Nigh. Also new this year was a newly designed award, a glass sculpture designed by Art Fusion Studio Artist, Rick and Tracey Bewley. Each sculpture is a unique piece of glass and the Treasured Couples each received their own award. The two awards can be joined together to form a single piece of art.

A large contingent of past recipients was in the audience. Past Living Treasures in attendance were Ray and Lou Ackerman, Mex Frates, Karen Luke, H.E. "Gene" Rainbolt, Dick and Jeanette Sias, Jim and Beth Tolbert, and Dr. Ron Gilcher.

Proceeds from the event went towards new beautification projects on the Oklahoma Health Center campus. A committee has been formed, chaired by Mike Joseph, and will be working with the new campus master plan to add sculptures, signage, and public art. At the end of the evening, guests were invited to view a special lighting of the Beacon of Hope at Founders' Plaza. The park was dedicated in November and was constructed from funds raised at the 2002-2005 Treasures for Tomorrow along with many generous donors. The park is also a project of the Oklahoma Centennial Commission.
