Feeds Project Hope
Through the generosity of the more than
12,000 employees at the Oklahoma Health Center, Project Hope, a food
drive for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma received 211,101 pounds
of food. The food drive was held May 11, 12 and 13th. Oklahomans
stepped up to the "plate" to help combat hunger.
Hunger is a growing reality for more Oklahomans
every day. To combat this serious social problem, the Regional Food
Bank of Oklahoma was established to collect and distribute donated
grocery products to charitable feeding programs. These agencies in
turn provide food directly to the hungry in their communities.
- One out of every five
children in Oklahoma does not get enough food to eat.
- 37% of clients at emergency
food providers are children under 18 years of age.
- Approximately _ million
Oklahomans are at risk of going hungry.
- For every $1 donated
to the Food Bank, 7 meals are distributed to the needy.
- The Food Bank’s
administrative costs are only 3%.
- Over the last two years,
the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma has distributed more than 42.2
million pounds of product to help the charitable community effectively
feed people in need. Since its inception in 1980, the Food Bank
has distributed more than 186 million pounds of food and other
products.

of Oklahoma distributes product to 500 charitable feeding programs
in 53 central and western counties in Oklahoma.

In addition to canned food
donations, funds were also donated by organizations and individuals
to help feed their fellow man, woman and child in the community.
