- *The programs and services of The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma and Southern Plains Area Tissue Services include disaster relief and prevention, health and safety education for all ages, bone & tissue transplantation services, armed forces emergency services, youth programs, and more in Kingfisher, Lincoln and Oklahoma counties.
- All Red Cross assistance is free, made possible by voluntary contributions of time and money from people who care.
- 86 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to those in need.
- Among the services provided:
- Disaster services: emergency relief at no cost to victims of disaster (fire, flood, tornado, etc.)
- Transportation to/from medical appointments. For those for whom transportation is unavailable or impractical
- Health & Safety Education Courses
- HIV/AIDS education for community
- Military services: 24-hour emergency communications service, emergency loans, tracing services
- Water Safety Instruction
- The Central Oklahoma Chapter and the Southern Plains Area Tissue Services provide tissue (bone, tendons, corneas, heart valves and saphenos veins) to an eight-state region.
- Since its inception in 1984, the American Red Cross Tissue Services has never had a reported case of any infection through bone or tissue transplant.
- Nationally, over 500,000 people can benefit from donor tissue.
