OU Physicians Names Radiation Oncology Chair

     Terence S. Herman, M.D., has been named chairman of OU Physicians Radiation Oncology. He specializes in the combined use of radiosensitizing drugs and precision radiation delivery methods to treat cancer patients.

     Herman is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and therapeutic radiology. Prior to joining OU Physicians, Herman was chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Previously, he served as chief of radiation oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, while serving on the faculty of Harvard Medical School.

      Herman completed fellowships at the University of Arizona in hematology-oncology and pharmacology. Herman completed a radiation oncology residency at Stanford University School of Medicine and an internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

      Herman is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, the Radiation Research Society, the Society for Neuro-Oncology and the Society for Thermal Medicine. He has published more than 185 articles in peer-reviewed journals and more than 150 abstracts and nine book chapters.

      With nearly 400 doctors, OU Physicians is the state's largest physician gro up. The practice encompasses almost every adult and child specialty.
