• On February 5, 1998, the historic Joint Operating Agreement between the state-operated University and Children’s Hospitals and the privately owned Presbyterian Hospital was signed, creating a hospital unique in the history of Oklahoma. This event signaled a new day in the delivery of health care to citizens of Oklahoma, ensuring the long-term viability of the hospitals through a unique working relationship between the private and public sectors. The agreement has resulted in the continuation and expansion of medical services for the citizens of Oklahoma.
  
• This tradition of cooperation was enhanced on June 20, 2001, when the hospital’s name was change to OU MEDICAL CENTER, expanding and defining the close working relationships that exist between the hospital, its affiliate physicians, and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The new name truly symbolizes the triple mission of quality patient care, research to find new medical cures, and the education of tomorrows health care providers. Once again, the citizens of Oklahoma are the winners through the application of new and modern techniques and procedures to cure disease and injury.
