  • Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1983 to provide resources for pediatric research and education.
  • CMRI strives to improve the health of children through its support of research and education at the Oklahoma Health Center.
  • CMRI is accomplishing its mission of advancing pediatric research and education through summer research scholarships for first and second year medical students, grants for small research projects and its nationally unique endowed chairs program.
  • Currently, CMRI supports nine $2 million and two $3 million endowed chairs in the areas of childhood cancers, bone marrow transplants, blood disorders-hemophilia, sickle cell, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, cystic fibrosis, genetics, infection disease, invitro surgery, kidney disease, neurodevelopment/behavior including ADD, autism and other learning disorders, congenital defects, trauma and care of critically ill newborns, and many other pediatric illnesses. The Institute is in the process of developing eleven additional endowed chairs. These endowed research funds allow CMRI to attract and retain the finest quality research investigators and faculty members for the OHC.
  • CMRI launched a five–year fundraising campaign in 2002 to establish two research programs at a cost of $29 million designed to advance medical discoveries and greatly impact the health of children diagnosed with Pediatric Type 2 Diabetes and Childhood Cancers.
  • CMRI raises its funds through private and corporate donations, an annual giving campaign, special events, and Children’s Miracle Network. As the local Children’s Miracle Network affiliate, proceeds from benefit events held by CMN sponsors and the annual Children’s Miracle Network Celebration television special also add to the funds raised for research and education.
  • CMRI has provided over $37 million dollars in endowments, scholarships and research grants since its founding.
  • CMRI is the only granting entity in Oklahoma providing private support exclusively for pediatric research and education.
  • Volunteers are the key to the success of CMRI. To volunteer, please call 405/271-2258.
